Rankings and recognitions

In 2023, U.S. News & World Report classified VCU as a Tier 1 University with an overall National University rank of No. 142 and a rank of No. 76 among all public colleges and universities in the United States.

The acceptance rate at VCU is 90.7%.

Admission into the VCU Honors College is competitive, and current VCU students are eligible to apply with the following admission guidelines: At least a 3.5 cumulative GPA at VCU. 12 to 53 semester hours of college credit completed.

The VCU Medical School acceptance rate is 4.5%. The interview rates are 24.0% for in-state applicants and 4.3% for out-of-state applicants. Around 48% of the entering class is composed of in-state students.
