I understand where the OP is coming from as in the eyes of non Carolina fans the program has slipped and N.C. State and Wake have been to Omaha since our last trip in 2018 and UVA has been twice since our last trip. I know as a huge supporter of Carolina Baseball that the program has been to 3 super regionals since 2018 , hosted four times since 2018 and went to Omaha in 2018 and a lot of programs would die for that .But when you have gone to Omaha as much as Carolina has since 2006 the standard has become Omaha or Bust. This game i think would reestablish Carolina as a national power in the eyes of many media outlets.

The umpire last night behind the plate was an SEC umpire. Jeff Macias......Google him. First 29 pitches....26 strikes. Flamed out at AAA level.

At some point you need to make an appearance in Omaha especially if you are gonna hang signs that say Omaha where the heels play. ? or just change them to say the bosh where the heels play.

SMH at some of the posters on this message board. Tonight is not a crossroads. It isn't a statement. Forbes has done a marvelous job this year and it is quite an accomplishment getting us this far after losing our two best starting pitchers regardless of tonight's outcome. Any knucklehead that calls for his job should we lose tonight is a moron, or I suppose a knuckleheaded moron.

Bruh, I move got season ticket holder knuckleheads behind me already calling for his head in the most profane manner imaginable. A couple of times I had to leave my seat and walk away.

Tonight is a chance to end the season of the program that is the face of SEC baseball. Whether you call that a statement or not is up to you.

Same. I HOPE we can do it but I've been burned by UNC Athletics too many times in recent history to feel good about it.

Choke up, shorten your stroke, and just make contact. Don’t swing for the fences.

It's not like they are undefeated or win the title most years. They are defending champions, but don't exactly have a dynasty going. Making a Super Regional would be a great accomplishment, but not any greater than that of the other 15 teams that make it there. Winning the whole damn thing would be a statement. Let's do that!

Seven national titles since 1991 and 18 CWS appearances is pretty impressive.

I agree. Just a comparison for folks calling for Forbes head. We’re a lot more alike than we are different in baseball..

They’re LSU. As someone stated above…they win it all often. And they won the last one. They are a blue blood. It’s every bit the equivalent of beating us in the NCAAs in March.

I think there's a lot of pressure because we've lost regional and super regionals at home recently. We're the #4 overall seed and it's a huge upset not to get out of the regional... no matter who you're playing.

It's a great opportunity for a program statement win. The sky won't fall if we lose, but these opportunities don't come around too often.

Since the Omaha runs started in 2006, we have lost two regionals at home (2017 to Davidson and 2012 forget who won the regional but we lost winners bracket game to St. Johns) and two supers (2019 to Auburn and 2022 to Arkansas).

LSU is tough, and so are the Heels. Baseball is very unpredictable. Is Roy Williams at the games?

I believe we have a better team than LSU and I believe in this group of guys to come through. But can't be thinking Omaha yet. Got to focus on the next one and get it done.

The odds of either team to win the regional before it started was even money for both LSU and UNC. LSU was preseason #4 and have been playing like a top 10 team the last month. That's not a great upset if they win this region. Two damn good teams that if they played a series anywhere neither team would likely be swept. The quality of play was very similar to the Arkansas super regional. That team was a 2 seed and finished 3rd in the CWS that year.

I agree with the op. If you don’t want to go that far, it is at least an incredible opportunity. Home game, this team is built well, and I just don’t see the elite teams that were there last year. Definitely special.

Looks like he umps in multiple conferences (unless Arizona and ASU have joined the SEC, which is theoretically possible given what's going on nowadays Tonight is a statement game (12)). Regardless, I don't think he was particularly unfair to either side, he just plain sucked.
