Convince me that people aren't gaslighting themselves into thinking Fromsoft games are fun.
I've played through all of the souls games, solo'd orphan of kos and malenia, and I realized I never actually had fun with any of it, it was a completely miserable experience aside from a few cool bosses.
I just wanted to prove I was a true hardcore gamer who could handle the challenge.

Your brain is wired differently to those who do find enjoyment in great difficulty. BDSM is a thing that not everyone is into, as an example. The most fulfilling moments in gaming for me were completely absurd challenges, but the path can be rough sometimes.
People who do not enjoy ball-crushingly difficult content aren't necessarily players who cannot specifically beat said content.
You can be "gud" and able to clear the content easily enough while also not enjoying the process and not deriving an equivalently satisfying reward afterward.
Not everyone is the same.

What I like about DS and such is the exploration, the trill to see if I'm going to make it to the next checkpoint on a single try after exploring every single dead end, the bosses are just walls to break in order to explore further.

I don't find them fun at all, and I can recognize that even though it does take lots of practice and skill to complete these games, it's more frustrating and tedious than fun. Video games are not an outlet to prove how cool you are. Nobody will give you any respect for beating a video game, it's total delusion. If you find something fun, play it. I don't touch these games and even my friends that enjoy them don't give me any sh*t for it, cause we have different tastes. Mine just happens to be good

Then you just have a very specific description of fun. If you enjoy doing something, it's fun. If you voluntarily do something for hundreds of hours that you don't even enjoy ir, then you're simply moronic.

Souls is fun to varying degrees across the games where they peaked at Sekiro and suddenly took a nosedive to rock bottom in ER with the worst level and encounter design. Although, it isnt an accident, and is intentionally designed to cater to low attention span facetank casuals, Armored Core on the other hand has almost always been a consistently addictive blast throughout the decades, save for AC6 which suffers from the very same philosophy as ER does relative to previous titles. Soulsbabbies ruined their own franchise and potentially all of From with the "hurr difficult and BRUTAL git gud" meme, meanwhile souls difficulty has always equal to average PS2 game difficulty.

I do enjoy souls games and i have known for a while that a lot of you are only playing because you are NPCs who are just doing POPULAR THING you see talked about on Ganker or r*ddit which is why you come on these platforms and complain endlessly about the gameplay.
I see so many criticisms posts that basically boil down to
>wow i really like the art style and memes for this game but i hate [insert anything that has to do with gameplay]Then you have the PvP autists who ONLY want to PvP and they use youtube guides and a wiki to make as powerful a character as they can and they are like
>wow i read the wiki and i dont need any more items for the PvP build i want therefore the exploration in this game isnt fun for me which is a huge flaw of the game because im a fricking moron

Now that the DLC is out, I honestly didn’t have that much fun with ER. The bosses are ok, but the open world was what made me dislike it. I love souls/bb/Sekiro though. I’ve done multiple playthroughs of all of these with ds1 and ds3 both being 30+ each. Elden ring, I did my first playthrough, then another two, one of which included the dlc. I think that’ll do it for me. Elden ring has the best levels in regards to the legacy dungeons but that’s it. They’ve done bosses better, they’ve made better soundtracks and they’ve made better spectacle moments. The only spectacle in the DLC for me was bayle and messmer was the best fight. Radahn was such an odd choice for the final boss. The cutscenes were sh*t, his ost was sh*t and the fact that you can parry him made the fight incredibly boring. Overall, I think it was a bit of a letdown

The part where you finally beat the boss that was giving you trouble and you did it while avoiding their moves and getting in your own, That's what everyone finds fun. I suppose if you autopilot the fights and just melt the bosses without learning them it won't feel like an achievement to beat them though.

i liked radahn. felt like a badass blocking all his bullsh*t. it was still engaging because you have to manage health from the holy attacks and your stamina gets depleted fast. the small openings between his combos arent enough time for meaningful counter attacks but theyre just enough time to regain stamina and brace for next combo. it's like he was designed for shield users. thematically sh*t boss though. very anti climatic end to the dlc.
