2 Democrats face off for House District 74 seat in Forsyth County (2024)

Super Tuesday is just around the corner, and two Democrats are hoping to represent the party in the race for House District 74. The district represents some of the western parts of Forsyth County. Amy North and Mack Wilder are hoping to sell to voters that they have what it takes to replace Republican Jeff Zenger. "We don't feel like we're being represented in the way that we should, and politics is taken over and what families need is not priority," North said. Both of them are running for office for the first time, but they have both worked for other candidates. "I've canvassed for every presidential candidate since Gore, Lieberman," Wilder said. "I've worked on several campaigns for other women running for office, and now it's time for me to do more than I've ever done before," North said. "Women deserve the choice to do what they want with their body," North said. "We don't need the state. We don't need the government to tell us how to make choices that are best for us." Wilder said he is motived by the continued expansion of Medicaid. "There really just has to be access to affordable, quality health care, because I guess the American just can't be 'save, save, save' and hope you don't get sick," Wilder said. Both candidates said they are focused on illustrating why they are right for this primary. "I've been serving this community for over 20 years working in all different organizations, learning about our community and responding to that," North said. "I just want to be a really good politician that works for his, you know, citizens that he represents and the state as a whole," Wilder said. North and Wilder said they are in the long race against Republican incumbent Jeff Zenger.
